The Procedures of Authentication

1. Procedures

Documents issued in Sweden to be used in China, such as the Affidavit of Support, Affidavit of Marital Status, Certificate of Employment, Health Certificate, Power of Attorney, Statement, Personal Identification Certificate, Trade Mark Registration, etc. should be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in Stockholm or the Chinese Consulate in Gothenburg before they are sent to China.

We do not notarize any documents directly for Swedes. We only authenticate documents which have already been notarized by Notarius Publicus and authenticated by the Foreign ministry.

Procedures are as follows:

a. Documents should first be notarized by a local Notarius Publicus. Documents in Swedish should be translated to Chinese or English.

b. The notarized document should be authenticated by the Foreign ministry of Sweden in Stockholm.

c. The Chinese Consulate General authenticates the relevant signature and seal from the Foreign ministry.

Please be noticed that documents should be in original shape when submitted. Applicants should not take apart the original documents (notarized or authenticated) or stitch some other pages to the original documents, and should bear all responsibility aroused.

2. Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following materials to the Consulate General:

1) Original documents to be authenticated;

2) One regibly and completely filled out Application Form for Authentication or Notarization.

3) In cases of commercial authentication, a copy of the company's license and good standing certificate of the company are also required.

3. Pickup and Fees and Payments

Applications can generally be picked up on the fourth working day from the date of submitting.

Authentication fees are 150 kr per civil document and 300 kr per document regarding property, finance or business.

If your application is submitted before 11:00am, it may be expedited to the next day depending on quantity of applications on that day, but applicants should pay the additional express fees of 170 kr per document for the next day or the third day pick-up.

We accept cash and bank check only. Other payments are not accepted. Bank check should be made payable to "Chinese Consulate General in Gothenburg".

4. Application by Mail

Authentications may be done by mail:

1) Please be noticed that there is no express service for authentications by mail. It usually takes 10 working days to process the authentication by mail. Mail service for authentication is just for those who do not need the documents back urgently. Otherwise, you should come to apply in person.

2) Please be noticed that we do not answer any inquiry about mail or applications during the 10 processing working days.

3) Application by mail should be paid in Money Order only. Applicants to choose mail service should pay the mail service charge of 40 kr per package in addition to regular authentication fees.

4) You should prepare a self-addressed envelope with enough stamps. We will send the document back with the receipt when it is ready.
